Mike and Marge control ePETRO, an oil shipping business with offices in London and New York, but they don't have the same business goals in mind. Marge intends to sell the North Koreans uranium in addition to oil obtained illegally from the government sanctioned Middle East. But Mike may have other plans, mainly, keeping the profits of these sales for himself.

Then there is the shadowy Steven Christopher, who oversees the information runners who are charged with staying off the grid, is working several angles behind the scenes. Steven is the only one trusted by both Marge and Mike, but why?

Do the vast amounts of information and technology available hold humans’ hostage? Do analog communications sidestep your vulnerability in a digital world?

As Juan and Julie Rodríguez send their operatives, Ernesto, Tyler, Summit, Mercedes, Brayson, and George out across the globe to track down these foot soldiers also known as Analog Information Mules, they'll discover the horrible potential treats, and learn about each other along the way.

Julie heads to London to fill the gap undercover inside ePetro, when she finds herself in the center of all the trouble. When Julie disappears, Juan drops everything to find her.

Even with all their information gathering sources and machinery, the R-Group fears she is lost.

Award winning authors, Breakfield and Burkey, take readers on a new techno thriller adventure with their 9th book in The Enigma Series. The Enigma Dragon is chilling journey across four continents, and twelve cities that uncovers terrifying possibilities of what is to become of our world if the CATS team cannot defeat our enemies.

What are Readers saying

Kirkus “Astute prose and an unwavering pace energized by first-rate characters and subplots.”

“The action could be considered exciting and visceral, but the antagonists are the selling points for this book, lifting the plot out of multiple perspectives and scene-shifting (the action takes place across four continents).”

“Any lover of thrillers or techno-thrillers will enjoy this book a lot.”

“The clever ingenuity in this book astounds me (the holy man... so quickly creative!)”

Interview with Breakfield and Burkey

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Breakfield and Burkey would choose a spirit animal. This could take the form of a dragon or a tiger, both of which happen in our series in different manners.

How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
We put in collectively 4-6 hours per day. As much as we love the idea of full-time writing, we both have full-time jobs in technology which typically demand more than a standard 40 hour work week.

Do you read your book reviews?
Burkey tends to read nearly every review, while Breakfield is a bit more selective. Constructively delivered reviews help us shape changes in our next short story or book within The Enigma Series. There have been a couple of mean-spirited ones that sting quite a bit. We realize not every reader or listener will enjoy or delight or wildly rave about our books to everyone they know (thought it would be awesome), however constructive feedback on the work is far better than personal attack.  We appreciate the time it takes to do a review.

Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
Throughout The 10, soon to be 11, books in The Enigma Series, there are subtle hidden messages. Hopefully some of your readers will find a few and check with us to verify they found one.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Enigma Dragon?
The Enigma Dragon has a great group of f good guys that are part of the Cyber Assassin Technology Services Team (CATS). The team work for Julie and Juan who started the business after their twins were born.

Julie is a tough-as-nails, multilingual, decedent of the R-Group family. Juan was one our bad boys, the kind mom told their daughters to avoid, introduced in The Enigma Rising. Julie and Juan connected because of their background and no-nonsense approach to people and situations which is clearly demonstrated in this story.

Their team is made up of military and special forces individuals who wanted to be part of a private enterprise: Mercedes, George, Summit, Ernesto, Tyler, Jamie and Brayson bring their well-honed skillsets to bear as they hunt for criminals that are seemingly off the grid using a unique communication methodology.

ePetro leadership, Marge and Mike Patrick are not only coloring outside the lines which the people they are involved with, but are also trying to outdo one another.

Each of these characters are individuals developed in ways to make you love or loathe them, but you won’t forget them or the risks they take to win.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
Breakfield and Burkey are always working on the next…story.  The Enigma Beyond, Book 11 in the series, is scheduled for release in January with a huge special preorder n the Ebook for $.99 in December on Amazon.  We would love all your readers support for this preorder.  This story is focused on Artificial Intelligence and the next battleground for technology.

We are also working on various short stories as back stories to the series. If folks sign up for our email from our website, they can download one of the award-winning shorts for free.

Book 12 is also in it’s formative phase.  More coming on that after The Enigma Beyond is released.

Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long as the words come?
During the week it is scheduled time around 4-6 hours.  One the weekends we write or edit until the characters stop whispering in our ears.

Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
This is an interesting question.  Several authors we know approach writing in this way. They do this to make certain they keep to a schedule.  We typically write for the section or chapter target we grabbed. As co-authors we also review one another’s’ work to merge into a single voice.

What inspires you to write?
Breakfield and Burkey are technologists by profession and we love to explore the possibilities. Technology is so engrained in our daily lives that we have wealth of things to explore. Though we write fiction, the technology we reference and include is real. We also enjoy people and the interactions between them, bringing the best and worst into our stories. You’ll need to let us know how we are doing.

Would you rather

Read fiction or non-fiction?
Burkey prefers fiction, Breakfield prefers non-fiction.

Read series or stand-alone?
No preference for either of us, just a great book.

Read Science fiction or horror?
Science fiction over horror.

Read Stephen King or Dean Koontz.
Both are awesome authors, but Dean Koontz.

Read the book or watch the movie?
Read a book wins most times.

Read an ebook or paperback?
Paperback or audible.

Be trapped alone for one month in a library with no computer or a room with a computer and Wi-Fi only?
Computer and Wi-Fi we can always reach out for books, but being connected these days is important. Plus, Burkey couldn’t be quiet that long.

Do a cross-country book store tour or blog tour online?
Yes. Seriously we like both but cross-country offers a chance to meet folks face-to-face and have a conversation or tell a story.
