Blurb:
Before the outbreak, Sahara was a high school teacher living
alone in a small Alabama town. She saw her life as nothing more than endless
days of teaching children Shakespeare and nights reading paranormal romances.
She was happy with her life, as quiet and mundane as it was.
After the outbreak, Sahara becomes a warrior traveling
across the country in search of sanctuary. She spends her days and nights
killing zombies, searching for food, trying to maintain her sanity, and if
Daniel has his say, finding love.
How will Sahara help those who are left find safety and
stability in a world full of nightmares? Will she stop resisting the man she
loves and open her heart, knowing that he may not live through the next second
let alone the next year? Join Sahara and her people in a fight against
creatures set out to devour them and the unknown threat controlling them to
find out.
My Review:
The world knew the zombie outbreak was coming and most
fortified their home to hopefully keep the zombies out as walls and chain
fences went up around homes. The thing they weren’t sure about is where the
virus came from. Was the virus released on the population by the government? Was
it an accident? Was it an experiment gone horribly wrong? Or could it have been
aliens?
I liked how realistic Jennifer made the virus seem. I liked
how the characters knew how to prepare for the outbreak from watching TV shows
like The Walking Dead or watching George A. Romero’s movies like Night of the
Living Dead or even the Return of the Living Dead movies. Most were not preppers
they were just movie buffs or zombie buffs and some even read a horror book or
two with zombies.
Our main character Sahara lived alone and was a high school
teacher. She lived what she would probably call a plain ordinary life. She went
to school to teach then she came home and sat in front of the TV probably until
it was time to get up and start everything all over again. Sahara admitted to herself
that she was just a couch potato so after the zombies came she was ok with
being alone.
Then one day the military people showed up on her doorstep
looking for survivors. Sahara gave them the use of her home as a base camp sort
of thingy as they looked for other survivors in her neighborhood. They also
checked her out for bites and tested her to see if she was immune to the virus.
When the group was through checking out the neighborhood
they ask Sahara to go with them to their base camp instead of staying there
alone. Sahara takes them up on their offer to go with them.
At his new place Sahara was taught how to fight zombies and
she also went out with Daniel, Charles and others on missions looking for
supplies and finding other survivors along the way.
There was this one hot dude in the group that Sahara was attracted
to but she was too shy to do anything about it but I think this guy Daniel may
have been too as it took them awhile to get to know each other and for the
first one to make a move but when that first move was made sparks flew and often.
I have read a lot of zombie and apocalyptic books not to
mention all the movies and TV shows I’ve seen but I don’t believe that I have
ever came across anything close to Resistant. The world that was created for
Resistant and the characters were all so realistic and convincing to the point
where you might be able to believe that a zombie virus outbreak could actually
happen.
My favorite TV show just happens to be The Walking Dead so I
would so very much love to see the Resistant on the big screen as a movie or
better yet as a TV show as a TV shows would last longer. When you are reading
Resistant you can see it playing out in your head like a movie.
Resistant is a fast read and will draw you in from the first
page and for a few hours you will be lost in this world not knowing what is
going on around you until you have read that last page. Oh and that last page
was so wonderful leaving you wanting more from this world and characters.
I so highly recommend Resistant to all fans of zombies, a
virus outbreak, The Walking Dead, Night of the Living Dead and so much more. Do
yourself a favor one click your copy of Resistant today and enter the zombie
apocalypse for a horrifying ride.
