Her Unexpected Match
Lacey Baker

Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Travel writer Allie Sparks has one goal: to find the story that will save her career. So here she is, visiting her bestie on picturesque Crescent Island—with sun-warmed beaches, the briny smell of the ocean, and rumors of a secret astrologer-matchmaker who guarantees love. Of course, Allie doesn’t believe in any of that stuff. If anything, she’ll prove it’s a total scam.
Ryan Parker believes in love—just not right now. He’s focused on expanding his family’s barbeque business, finding investors, and keeping his too-big Great Dane puppy from jumping on everyone, including his sister’s pretty, whiskey-eyed best friend. Besides, falling for a tourist is definitely not in his astrological forecast.
Allie is doing everything she can to resist the charm of the town and its beauty, not to mention her attraction to Ryan. But there’s a lot more happening on Crescent Island than anyone knows…and when her story goes to print, this tiny, close-knit town might never be the same.

Interview with Lacey Baker
What is your schedule like when you’re writing a book?
Hectic, lol. Probably because I’m basically always writing a book. But generally, I like to get up early in the morning, like 2-3am, because it’s quiet then and I can get a lot done without interruption. Then, because I also work a full-time job, I just squeeze in writing throughout the day, mostly during lunch hours.
Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?
Lacey Baker is a pseudonym. I also write contemporary and paranormal romance under my real name, A.C. Arthur.
Have you ever gotten reader’s block?
Yep! I’ve gone weeks without knowing which book I want to read next, while having a huge TBR pile. When that happens, I just go back and re-read an old favorite. That usually jumpstarts my reading again.
Does your family support your career as a writer?
Yes. My husband travels to all book events with me and helps sell the books at signings. My daughters used to travel to everything with me, but now that they’re grown, they only attend some events. But they help with my social media and sending out swag and contest winner gifts.
How many hours a day do you write?
On a good day I’d say 4-5 hours a day. On busy days though, I’m lucky to get in an hour.
If you could invite any three people for dinner, whom would you invite?
Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama and my grandmother because I miss her terribly.
Would you share something about yourself that your readers don’t know (yet)?
I don’t know, but I think I may have mentioned before that after a very traumatic childhood experience, I’m afraid of cats. Under my A.C. Arthur name I wrote an entire series about feline shifters, but domestic cats are a no-no for me!
Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?
I focus on writing the story that I want to tell. It’s always wonderful when readers connect with that story but I also understand and accept that not everyone will.
How do you celebrate when you finish your book?
I live in Maryland so it’s probably no surprise that I love crabs. Hubby gets me a crab cake from one of my favorite spots whenever I finish writing a book and on my release day.
If you could be mentored by a famous author, who would it be?
Toni Morrison and/or Maya Angelou. Their work ethic, candor and authenticity have always impressed me.
Author Bio:
Lacey Baker, a Maryland native, lives with her husband, three children, two grandchildren and English Bulldog in what most would call Suburban America–a townhouse development where everybody knows each other and each other’s kids. Family cook-outs, reunion vacations, and growing up in church have all inspired Lacey to work towards her dreams and to write about the endurance of family and the quest to find everlasting love. To date she has written in several genres including small town romance, YA paranormal (as Artist Arthur), a cozy mystery series titled Rumors and adult paranormal (as A.C. Arthur).
