Every day you’re driven nuts by the people around you making common sense errors and irrational decisions. Imagine what life would look like if you didn’t have to waste time and energy dealing with stubborn, clueless, argumentative, defensive, or apathetic coworkers! Thank goodness Eric Bailey translates decades of brain science research into every-day language, helping you break through common communication barriers that will improve every relationship in your life. Whether you work in the executive suite or on the front-line, this book will teach you how to cure the stupidity all around you.
Interview with Eric M. Bailey
As a writer, what would you choose as your
mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Tortoise… You think that you know them, but they are surprisingly
swift, cunning, and creative.
How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
At least 1 hour per day. Running a full-time, rapidly
growing business, and being a full-time husband/father, I had to carve out
additional time to write… that time is before the world wakes up.
Do you read your book reviews?
I LOVE critical feedback. Helps
me grow.
Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few
people will find?
Not hidden messages, but inside jokes every once in a
while.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Cure for
Stupidity?
As a non-fiction book, there aren’t
any characters, however I do offer a few vignettes that carry through the book.
We have Karl and Samantha, two generic office people with very NOT generic
personalities. We follow them through a typical office disagreement (about the
coffee maker) that turns nearly to fistacuffs. It’s fun.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have
planned for the future?
I love offering “the cure” so my
next book will follow that theme. But human connection is my jam. Ultimately I
‘d like to create a book on marriage.
Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you
write as long as the words come?
There are some days that the words
are coming, and I take longer than my alloted hour, but I try to make sure that
I write for a full hour at least.
Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
Depends on how far off of the pace
I am for my goal. I’m a geek and have a spreadsheet that divides my total word
goal by the number of days that I have left. Every day I enter my daily
production and it adjusts my goals for the following days.
What inspires you to write?
I have something meaningful to say,
that the world needs to hear right now. I want to reach as many people as
possible with it.
