Dancing with Trees and Waving with Leaves
by S.M. Jackson
GENRE: Children's
BLURB:
Loud,
scary, and unknowing sounds woke up the young child in the morning,
and she wondered what or who could be causing the spooky noises. She
hurried to her window, pulled open her curtains and looked outside.
That's when she noticed it was the wind blowing objects around.
Filled with curiosity, she then ran outside and immediately the gusty
wind blew hard. It was so strong it started blowing her away. What
will she do to enjoy this beautiful windy day with trees and the
leaves?

Excerpt:
The trees were dancing! They were dancing in the wind! The leaves were waving–they were waving at me! All the leaves on all the trees were waving at me.
I waved hello to the trees. “Good morning, trees!”
I greeted the leaves. “Good morning, leaves!”
I ran outside to join the trees. The wind was so strong it started blowing me away.
I immediately wrapped my arms around the rough, crumbly trunk of the nearest tree, and the wind swiftly lifted my legs into the air.
It blew my slippers right off my feet and carried them into the street!
The wind blew harder so I held on tight, bear-hugging the trees as it rocked me from left to right.
Now I, too, was dancing with the trees and waving with the leaves.
Skipping from tree to tree, I danced. I moved and grooved like the trees, and twisted and turned like the leaves.
The powerful wind whisked me backwards and forwards; I wiggled and jiggled. I swayed and shifted like the trees, and I shook and quivered like the leaves.
The gusty wind blew. I whirled and twirled. Waving up, down, and all around made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
I could dance with the trees and wave with the leaves all day long!
My Review:
Dancing with Trees and Waving with Leaves was a cute little read that had me laughing right along with the little girl in the story. A little girl is awakened by sounds that seem scary at first but she realizes they are coming from outside.
She looks out her window and realizes that it is only the trees dancing in the wind and the leaves are waving as well. She decides to go outside and dance with the trees and wave with the leaves as the wind blows them all around.
The illustrations were very well done and fit the story amazingly well and very beautifully. Dancing with Trees and Waving with Leaves is a great story for any parent to read to their little one any time of the day or night.
