GENRE: Paranormal
Romance
BLURB:
Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose's insatiable curiosity always gets her
in trouble. After a break-in at her Colorado flower shop, and a court battle
that comes to a screeching halt in her favor, she arrives at Deerbourne Inn for
a much-needed getaway. Looking for peace and quiet, she finds just the opposite
in a startling handsome but mysterious man and his dog.
Silvanus Forrest's gypsy/fae heritage is a double-edged sword. The
land he inherited from his parents is rumored to be enchanted. But when Mercy
discovers the truth, his well-ordered life unravels, and they're catapulted
into the past to right a wrong. Along the way their lives intertwine, and they
discover the true meaning of family and love. Will they change the past in time
to save their future?
Excerpt:
With her shoulders squared and a
bounce in her step, she headed for Mystic Maples. Standing at the bottom of the
stairs leading up to the wrap-around, partially screened in porch, the
two-story log cabin looked as formidable as its owner seemed at this moment. At
the front door, her hand raised to knock, she lost her nerve and took three
steps back, turned on her heel preparing to sprint down the steps when a dog
barked, and the door whooshed open.
Oh, no—breathe, Mercy, just breathe.
“Good mmorning Mr. Silvanus.” She stammered. She’d forgotten his last
name—wait—did she know his last name?
Eyes widened in surprise, he quickly
schooled his features into a pleasant expression before commanding Raga to stay
with a hand signal. “Good morning. Can I help you?” A beguiling smile curved
the corners of his mouth and his eyebrow winged up. “Weren’t you my late-night
visitor?” His eyes twinkled with mischief before he sent her a quick wink.
Wow, well trained dog. Feeling more
at ease, but she could tell he wasn’t going to let her off easy—if at all.
“Yes, I guess I was. I’m sorry to have trespassed on your property. I meant no
harm.” She blew out a breath. “I’m staying at the Deerbourne Inn. But my
reservations got mixed up and instead of being for six months as planned, the
reservation was for two weeks. Then Nate talked to you and indicated you had a
cottage to rent?”
He stared at her, the calm, blue
aura was back. “And your name is?”
My Reivew:
An elemental Earth/Fire Witch Mercy Rose needs a vacation so her sister books her into the Deerbourne Inn. Mercy plans to stay at the Inn for at least six months but upon her arrival she learns that there has been a misunderstanding about her stay. She is only booked at the Inn booked up with no openings for months.
But Mercy looks out when she runs into a nice handsome stranger who hears of her predicament with her reservation and offers to rent her his cottage on his land. Mercy takes him up on his offer as it is a part of the magical land that the Inn sits on.
Mercy enjoys her stay with the nice stranger and getting to know him and his dog. Mercy loves the land and can feel the magic working in it. Mercy hasn't felt her magic flow through her in a long time but when she steps foot on the enchanted land for the first time all of that changes. Mercy has a passion for flowers and her magic and weaves the two together rather handsomely.
I could just feel all the warmth, love and magic flowing through Mystic Maples with Mercy and her flowers not to mention the handsome stranger Sil. I could feel the love and warmth between the people of the town as well as Mercy and Sil's families.
The scenes with all the holidays stood out for me. I could see them in my mind as if I was watching a movie. Speaking of movies I think Mystic Maples would make a great lifetime movie. You know one of those movies that you would want to watch on a cold winter's day snuggled up on the sofa with your favorite person someone dear to your own heart with maybe a fire burning in the fireplace and it is snowing out. That is how Mystic Maples made me feel all warm and cozy inside.
I would recommend Mystic Maples to all fans of love and cozy hometown magical stories.
