Light-Years From Home

Genre: Science Fiction

Blurb:

It was supposed to be a walk in the park—literally. Just a quick trip into Muir Woods to grab a few samples for a science lab, then back home again (for better or worse). But life doesn’t always go as planned, and a three-hour hike in the woods turned into a three-hundred-light-year trip to another galaxy when Max, Noah, Leya, and Chloe get kidnapped by a trio of aliens surveying Earth.

Now, light years from home—from parents, from friends, from everything they know and love—four kids are about to find themselves in the middle of an intergalactic war of extermination. A war that, if lost, will mean not only the death of their new friends, but the end of humanity.

On the bright side, their lab project is going to blow the teacher’s mind. Assuming they can survive long enough to get home…and assuming there’s still a home to get back to.

From the mind of international bestseller, indie sensation Michaelbrent Collings comes a journey into the farthest reaches of space…only to find out that home is just around the corner. A book that mixes the action and humor of Goonies, the sci-fi thrills of Stranger Things, the excitement of books like The Hunger Games, and the coming-of-age and relationships of Stephen King’s It, Light-Years From Home is an adventure like no other.

My Review:

Light-Years From Home by Michaelbrent Collings is a fast-paced read that captured my attention from the first page to the last. Once I picked up Light-Years From Home I wasn’t able to lay it down until I read the last page. When I opened Light-Years From Home and read that first page I was pulled into its world and it hung on until that last page came in view and I was shockingly pulled back to my world.

Light-Years From Home is Max, Noah, Leya, and Chloe’s story. Max and Chloe are brother and sister. Noah is Max’s best friend. Leya is the girl who was sent to live with Noah and his parents after her parents died.

One day Max, Noah, Leya, and Chloe are taking a walk in the woods. Chloe is Max’s little sister. Max decides to let Chloe go with him and his friends after realizing that Chloe didn’t have any friends. He wanted to spend time with his little sister so she wouldn’t have to sit alone at home all the time.

When they walked into those woods their world is turned upside when the trees and plants come to life. Trees start moving around. I tried to picture it all in my head but I don’t believe I did it justice even though the descriptions were brilliantly written.

Light-Years From Home was a charming and captivating story and the characters are what made it so charming. I think that Michaelbrent Collings did a wonderful job with the characters as they were spot on in the way they acted appropriately for someone of their age.

Light-Years From Home is a great book for anyone who likes science fiction, aliens, and traveling in space. If you like stories like Star Trek, The Mandalorian, or any outer space stories then I do believe that you will fall in love with Light-Years From Home. So grab your copy of Light-Years From Home today and join Max, Noah, Leya, and Chloe as they take a thrilling ride through space!
