Review Tour + #Giveaway: The Trial Show: The Resistance Rises by Konstantina P. @Konstantina88P @GoddessFish

The Trial Show: The Resistance Rises

by Konstantina P.

GENRE: Speculative Fiction, Spy Thriller

BLURB:

Forced into the shadows while waging war on an oppressive regime intent on controlling those born with unnatural powers, the Resistance feels like a family. And although all families harbour secrets, theirs are world-shattering.

When Ava Moore foresees the death of her sister Brooklyn and Resistance leader Parker Quinn is forced to appear in a televised trial accused of murder, the web of lies begins to unravel. For not only is Resistance’s second-in-command, Jay Frazer, fighting a guerrilla battle with deadly consequences, he’s also trying to bury his deep-seated love for Parker.

With Parker and Jay temporarily out of the picture, double-agent Trent Reese is left responsible for leading the Resistance. Trent is willing to adapt his moral code to any situation, but what—or whom—does he believe in? As for innocent Ava, who’s plagued by unsettling visions, it’s becoming clear that everyone she loves is in peril. Given, however, that Parker is concealing a mighty gift of his own, one that could change the entire course of the rebellion, the future of the all-seeing state is on the line too.

When the web of secrets is untangled, who will survive?

Excerpt

I haven’t been in this part of the city for years, but it doesn’t take me long to find my way around. A flicker of agitation pulses through my veins at every familiar sight. I don’t want to be here, remembering how I grew up as an only child in a loving family that never forgave me for becoming an agent; a family that could never know who I really was if I wanted to keep them safe.

I’ll never forget the look on my father’s face when I announced my chosen profession. If it was merely betrayal, I’d have accepted it, but the disgust and his order to leave the house accompanied by my mother’s disappointed sobs in the background were enough to break me. They even made me briefly reconsider. My parents were my first sacrifice and, since then, I’ve kept everyone else I encountered that inspired love in me uncomfortably close.

I give in and drive in front of their house. The same light-yellow porch greets me as it always did every time I came home. My heart thunders to life under a chest that threatens to burst. My whole body feels like a limb waking up from sleep, all pins and needles—and pain—if I push too hard. I don’t belong here anymore. I don’t belong anywhere, so I brush my crocodile tears away with a balled-up fist and go to finish the job.

My Review:

The Trial Show is the first book in The Resistance Rises series and what a great series starter. The Trial Show opened with a bang and kept on going. What a great beginning to a new world.

The moment I read that first page I was hooked. It drew me in right from the beginning and never let go. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough waiting and wanting to know what was going to happen next.

The Trial Show has so much to offer like some very great characters and a very interesting plot line. I loved how The Trial Show was a TV show and how its murder trials were televised live.

I also liked that The Trial Show was told from more than one point of view. I love reading books that are told from multiple points of view as I love getting more than one perspective on the story. I love getting to know each of the characters. I like learning who they are and what makes them tick so to speak.

I would recommend The Trial Show to all dystopia fans! Grab your copy of The Trial Show today!
