Interview with LaDwina Flegeance

What is your schedule like when you’re writing a book?

I’m a day person. Therefore, I like to write between the hours of 9 am - 5 pm. The daytime is quieter since I work from home. I typically run errands in the morning, and I tend to household/family needs in the evening.

Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?

I thought about it once or twice as an inner ego stage name. But for the most part, I want the world to know LaDwina.

Have you ever gotten reader’s block?

Absolutely! My mind races all the time thinking and planning for the next project.

Does your family support your career as a writer?

Yes, my husband is very supportive. He, too, is also a writer, so he totally understands my thought process.

How many hours a day do you write?

I journal daily, none, stop. I have 3-4 journals wherever I may be sitting for a long period of time. When I have a thought, I like to put it on paper. Eventually, that thought turns into a story.

If you could invite any three people for dinner, whom would you invite?

Octavia Spencer, Jill Biden, and Phylicia Rashad

Would you share something about yourself that your readers don’t know (yet)?

My life is pretty much open in my book. But if given the opportunity to be on a reality or game show. I would sign-up TODAY.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I like a good balance. Everyone’s thoughts might not be the same. Therefore, I like to share my experiences and give “what if” scenarios for readers to reflect on.

How do you celebrate when you finish your book?

A glass (or bottle) of red wine and a nice filet mignon, lol

If you could be mentored by a famous author, who would it be?

    Maya Angelou, The GOAT!
