Lush. Dark. Romantic. Introducing a newly reimagined tale written in the vein of Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone.
Long before civilization, there were the gods. And before the gods, there was the earth, the celestial bodies, and air given flesh. They are the Anemoi—the Four Winds—and they have been banished to the four corners of the world.
Wren of Edgewood is no stranger to suffering. Her parents are gone. Survival is all she knows. For three hundred years, the land known as the Gray has been encased in ice, surrounded by a great barrier called the Shade, which protects the townsfolk from the Deadlands beyond.
But day by day, the Shade weakens.
Only one thing can stop the Shade’s fall: a mortal woman taken captive across the barrier, bound in wedlock to the dark god who reigns over the Deadlands. He is the North Wind, the Frost King, an immortal whose heart is said to be as frigid as the land he rules.
And the time has come for the Frost King to choose his bride.
The North Wind is a standalone, enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance, the first in a series sprinkled with Greek lore. Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout, Laura Thalassa, and Scarlett St. Clair.
My Review:
Wren has been taking care of her sister Elora for a long time now ever since the death of their parents. Wren will do whatever it takes to keep her sister safe no matter what the cost to herself.
The time has come once again for the Frost King to pick a new bride. No one wants to be the Frost King’s bride. The brides-to-be have been chosen. When the Frost King arrives he will choose the girl he wants to take back with him.
The horror stories that have been passed down through the generations about the Frost King are horrid. The stories and things that are told about what happens to the girls that have been chosen in the past are awful, so awful that no one wants to be the Frost King's chosen one.
Wren is afraid that he will choose her sister Elora. He will never take her sister if she has anything to do with it. Wren’s fears are realized when the Frost King chooses Elora to be his bride. Wren has a plan to make sure that never happens, of course. Her plan is to disguise herself as Elora hopefully until it is too late for the Frost King to do anything about it.
Wren is the bravest and selfless person ever. She wanted her sister to have a wonderful and happy life. Wren didn’t care about herself or her own happiness. Wren has a heart of gold.
The North Wind is an enemies-to-lovers story as well as a beauty and the beast story. The world-building was beautifully done. The characters were amazing each in their own ways. The more I think about The North Wind the more it grows on me, the more it touches my heart.
The North Wind is a wonderful story for all beauty and the beast re-telling fans. I highly recommend The North Wind to all romance fans! Grab your copy of this heartwarming story, The North Wind today!
