Hunt of the Gods
Amy Braun
(Areios Brothers #2)
Publication date: June 4th 2019
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy
Two months have passed since Derek Areios—war-scion and heir of Ares—and the band of rogue scions he’s aligned with recovered both the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the Heart of the Devourer and returned them to the Gods. During the battle, Derek discovered he could control not only the element of fire, as all war-scions can, but also the dark element “aether,” making him the only scion alive to wield two types of elemental magic.
Commanded by Zeus to retrieve the Trinity Weapons and the Shards of Cronus, Derek and the rogue scions are thwarted in their goal by a gang of water-scions with a grudge against one of the rogues—Thea, heir of Poseidon. Both groups travel to an uninhabited island to recover one of the Shards––the Eye that belonged to Cronus, King of the Titans. But what they encounter will lead them down a path of brutal betrayals, hard truths, painful memories, and desperate actions.
With angry and impatient gods breathing down his neck, a curse that allows Ares to control him, a prophecy he’s desperate to avoid, a magic spear corrupting his thoughts, and two forms of elemental magic, Derek has a lot of baggage—and a lot of power. Will the price of using that power to satisfy the Gods be too much for him to pay?
Mythological monsters, explosive magic, and devastating truths take center stage in the second novel of the action-packed AREIOS BROTHERS series from Amy Braun.
My Review Hunt of the Gods (Areios Brothers #2):
Derek and his little band of scions are commanded by Zeus to
bring him the Trinity Weapons and the Shards of Cronus. It is believed that that
one of shards the Eye of Cronus is located on the Santa Rosa Island. Selena
believes that she can find the shard with her visions once they reach the
island. Easy-peasy right, Derek is like no way will it be easy as the gods do
like a good fight.
Everyone soon learns that Derek is right in assuming that
their task was not going to be easy when they are on the island and meet up
with other bad scions, monsters, water sirens, sea monsters among other
creatures and having to fight their way through each and every one of them to
reach the Eye of Cronus.
Derek has a rage inside of him that if it is let loose could
cost him more than he is willing to pay. For the most part he is able to
control this rage until one of the people he loves is put in danger and then
this rage is unleashed. Derek is afraid of this rage inside of him as he may
not be able to control it and cost him the life of someone he cares for deeply.
Hunt of the Gods is filled with lots and lots of action from
the first page that kept me glued to my seat watching and waiting for each and
every battle wondering what amazing creature was going to enter the picture
next and who our little band of scions were going to have to face next and who
would come out on top.
The story of the Areios Brothers just gets better and better
with each journey and I can’t wait to see where they take us next and what sort
of monsters they will be up against. The more I read of the Areios Brothers the
more I fall in love with all of the characters the good and the bad as each
characters plays their part very well and is very good at what they do. I love
the hunt that our little band of scions takes us on.
I highly recommend Hunt of the Gods to all fans of fantasy,
magic, Gods and Goddess and anyone who loves a good fight or battle.
Storm of the Gods (Areios Brothers #1):
My Review of Storm of the Gods (Areios Brothers #1):
Derek Aerios a descendant of Ares the God of War is a war
scion. Ares gives Derek orders to hunt four scions that are under Athena's
command he refuses until he threatens his little brother Liam’s life. Derek
made himself two promises: one of those promises is to protect his little
brother and the other one is to never kill a human again. With Ares’s threat
against his brother Derek has no choice but to hunt down the scion and do as he
ask.
Storm of the Gods is packed with action with never a dull
moment. The Areios brothers are always getting into a fight with someone. There
are monsters and scion everywhere especially if you are hunting them who are
very willing to help out in the fighting department. The brothers can get into
some pretty awesome and gruesome fights that will have the adrenaline pumping.
There were a few times where I was getting real worried
about Derek and Liam not knowing if they were going to come out on top or if
they were going to be the one that got the old blade plunged into their hearts.
The Gods always seem to be fighting or looking for a fight but they are scions
of Ares the God of War. There was one battle after another with scions,
monsters, giant spiders and even Hades made an appearance. Great fight scenes I
can’t wait for more of these brothers and so can’t wait to dive into the next
book Hunt of the Gods. Bring on the Gods and Goddess.
I recommend Storm of the Gods to all fans of fantasy, mythology,
Greek mythology, magic, gods, and goddess with a whole of action with plenty of
fighting.
