Virtual Book Tour + Review + #Giveaway: Karma City by Gardner Browning @GoddessFish

Karma City
by Gardner Browning
GENRE: Science Fiction, Contemporary, Post-Apocalyptic

BLURB:

A microscopic parasite has crippled humanity with night terrors and paralyzing anxiety. In this world of increasing dystopia, hope yet remains in Karma City. But when mercenary drifter, Jameson Shoals, learns that a famous scientist has created a stronger parasite to kill the original, it isn’t until the bodies litter the streets that he realizes the horrifying truth: the new parasite is a killer with a mind of its own, and upon dominating Patient Zero, this killer acquires legs, hands, and eyes. It falls upon Shoals and his partner, a deadly female mercenary, to stop PZ and his mob before they can overcome and supplant humankind.

Excerpt:

Jameson Shoals crouched to keep his balance atop the speeding train. The wind beat against his leather jacket, scattering his collar length, brunet hair over his eyes like a frayed, muddy rag. The scalding steam and smoke puffing from the locomotive singed his nostrils. Raising his shotgun at the attacker standing only a few feet away, he shouted, “You’re in a real heap of shit, pal.”

The man glared at Jameson, with blond hair framing his gaunt face like tendrils of fire . His
spindly legs backed to the edge of the train car roof with unnatural balance. “You should consider your own life,” he hissed. Amber light burned in the man’s hollow, jack-o-lantern eyes. “Detonation is imminent.”

Before Jameson could shoot, the man leapt from the train, flipping backward and vanishing into the night.

My Review:

A microscopic parasite is ravaging the world taking over any and all bodies that happens to be standing in its path. This parasite takes over the human mind and body using it as its host.

Jameson Shoals a mercenary drifter learns that a scientist has created a stronger version of the parasite to stop the original parasite but this new parasite’s way of curing the host is to kill it. Jameson and his trusty sidekick Luna a deadly female mercenary set out to find a cure for the parasite and save the human race. The answers they are looking for lies within Karma City with a Dr. Albert Walker.

Their hunt for the cure takes them on a race through the city while trying to avoid the infected and only engaging those whom it is absolutely necessary and only when they are attacked by the infected do they take action which sometimes requires engaging them in battle and killing them.

Karma City had me hooked from the very beginning as the infected reminded me so much of zombies attacking people and infecting them. The difference between the infected in Karma City and zombies is that the infected in Karma City are still alive and zombies are not.

Karma City is a fast paced and intense read that will have you racing through the pages to see where Jameson and Luna are going to go next on their journey to save the human race from its own self.  I would really love to see more of this world, the characters and the infected that has been created for Karma City.

If you like reading about diseases, infected or even zombies then give Karma City a try because trust me it will be worth the read as it is an amazing story that will leave you wanting more.
