Genres: Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult

Truth, like love, isn’t always obvious.

Seventeen-year-old Ruby Brooks has never had a boyfriend. After moving to small-town La Luna, New Mexico following her mother’s untimely death, boys aren’t even on her radar. Ruby just wants to forget the last horrible year and blend in. But when she discovers an ancient pueblo ruin hidden in the forest behind her house, and meets Ezra, a bitter recluse whose once-perfect face was destroyed in an accident he won’t talk about; Angel, the town’s handsome sheriff’s deputy, and Leo, a stranger who only appears in the forest, Ruby finds herself caught between love, mystery, and other worlds. What happened to Ezra’s face? And why is she so attracted to the one boy in town everyone despises? As Ruby unravels her own powerful connections to both Ezra and the pueblo ruin, she’ll learn surfaces are deceiving. Especially in the heart of New Mexico, where ghosts and legends aren’t always just campfire stories.

My Review:

Seventeen-year-old Ruby Brooks moves to a small-town, La Luna, New Mexico with her Aunt Liddy. Ruby has suffered a lot in the last year with the death of her mother. Ruby becomes the center of attention after arriving in La Luna but that is the way of small towns. She meets a great group of girls whom she becomes fast friends with. Ruby is in her last year of school.

There are three guys in the town that Ruby sets her eyes on and each one becomes infatuated with her as well. One is the Sheriff's Deputy Angel who is a nice young man. Another one is Ezra who likes to keep to himself especially after his accident that has left him with scares. And last but not least Ruby meets another young man in the forest a very mysterious dude whom she usually only sees in the forest.

The town of La Luna comes alive with the very beautiful descriptive writing of the Native American landscape. The descriptions are so vivid that you feel as if you are there. I loved reading about the history of La Luna and the Natives. After reading Between Wild and Ruin and those wonderful stories and description of the landscape I now would like to visit New Mexico.

Between Wild and Ruin is filled with twists and turns and secrets as well, only revealing them a little at a time just enough to keep you interested and the pages flipping. Between Wild and Ruin kept me guessing as to who and what was actually happening and who was who. I so enjoyed Between Wild and Ruin and can’t wait for more from this world and these characters, each and everyone of them.

Between Wild and Ruin is a cross between Beauty and the Beast and the Twilight Light Saga only no one sparkles. If you like fairy tale re-tellings then I believe that you will love Between Wild and Ruin, One click your copy of Between Wild and Ruin today to get to know these wonderful characters and the beauty of New Mexico.
