Interview with A.V. Asher

What made you want to become a writer?

I’ve always had stories playing out in my head and being an author was something I dreamed of becoming since I was young. But my career and life took over and I not only didn’t write, I stopped reading as well.

After I left my career and started working in a field that allowed for a lot of flexibility, I started reading again. That triggered my creativity and for some reason, this story would not leave me alone until I wrote it down.

What inspired you to write The Lies That Shatter?

After my creative mind was triggered back to life, I wrote the first book in the duet, The Truth Keeps Silent. For some reason, I just couldn’t stop focusing on scenes until I wrote them down. I did a swap with some authors online and their positive feedback made me keep writing until Truth was done. Lies became a duet when Alec and Sadie’s story didn’t want to end, so I took a chance and wrote it as a duet.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Lies That Shatter?

You get to know them best in the first book.

Alec is a smexy former British intelligence officer who now owns a security firm in London. He met Sadie years before when his cousin married her sister.

Mercedes (Sadie) is an American lawyer whose career fell apart in San Francisco and she moved to London with her boyfriend to start over.

Of course, nothing is what it seems, and Alec and Sadie were pushed back together after years apart.

Throughout both books, Alec and Sadie face huge challenges that test how they feel about each other. But, one of the things I really love about them is the connection they have to one another. Even in their most broken moments, they love each other deeply.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

I legitimately don’t have one, if you can believe it! I took a long hiatus from reading and I’m now finding new authors I love all the time. I just found Claire Kinsley and Claire Contreras which are amazing. I also am branching out into the RH genre and am in the middle of Hate by Tate James. I love her writing style. So, I may come up with a favorite someday, but for now, I’m just enjoying finding new ones all the time.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?

My next book will be a stand-alone romantic suspense book that will be within the same world as this duet. Alec and Sadie will both appear heavily in the story as side characters. I hope to have it ready to publish in the spring of 2021.

I am also planning at least one more suspense book and possibly two contemporary romances that include these characters.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

I really enjoyed writing in some of the twists and turns that I knew would throw the readers through a loop. I also enjoyed sharing how Alec and Sadie are torn apart so many times, but manage to find each other again.

Author Bio:

American writer AV Asher (Avie) was one of those kids always who got in trouble for reading in class. She has been creating stories since childhood, but only recently began writing them down. The Truth Keeps Silent is Avie's debut novel. The second book in the duet, The Lies That Shatter, is expected to be released in the Autumn of 2021. Avie lives in Northern Nevada with her husband and three children.
