Trail

This trail might be the last one she ever follows…

The younger citizens of The Beck don’t know what awaits them when they make their Transfer. Kept in the dark, Minors are sheltered from the dangers that await them.

14 year old Cass is a risk taker. When she accepts a dare one night and disappears over the wall, she doesn’t stop to think about the consequences.

11 year old Porter worships Cass. Discovering her idol is going on a forbidden adventure, she can’t resist following her. But The Beck is filled with unknown hazards, and one thing quickly becomes clear: if they haven’t made it back by the morning, they may never make it back at all.

My Review of Trail:

Trail introduces us into the world of Flow and its citizens where they live in a place called The Beck. The Beck is divided into different sections with walls surrounding each section. Each section holds different age groups with male and female being housed in different sections with no communication between each section. Trail covers the story of few of the girls from the age group of 5 – 14.

Trail tells the story of Quinn, Cass, Harper and Porter. The girls are getting ready to be transferred to the adult section of The Beck. Cass is dared to climb the wall that will take them into the adult section and accepts the dare. Cass’s two best friends Quinn and Harper decide to tag along on Cass’s journey to make sure she makes it back safely. If they are caught the consequences could be catastrophic for all of them.

Cass is admired by one of the other girls, Porter. When Porter hears about the girls little excursion Porter decides to follow them to the other side of the wall to see what is on the other side and to find out what is waiting for them when they are transferred.

This one little night of misadventures could turn deadly for the girls and open their eyes to a whole new world and show them the way of life that they are about to face on the other side of the wall. What is waiting for the girls on the other side of the wall in this strange new land? Will the girls make it to safety?

I love dystopian books and worlds and couldn’t wait to dive into Trail. Trail is a great introduction into a whole new world of dystopia with great characters and little bit of world building to drag us deep into the story to leave us wanting more.

If you like dystopian world books then you are going to absolutely love this little gem that gives a great introduction into the world of the Flow Series.

The Storm: Flow shorts

Genre: YA, Dystopian, Fiction

Occurs in the middle of Flow so read after Flow. See how Cass handles the changes in her life after Assessment Day.

My Review of The Storm: Flow shorts:

The Storm is written from Cass’s point of view and gives us a little insight into her world. Today in Cass’s world a storm is about to hit the Beck and the girls are all having to pull together to save the crops that they have worked so hard to grow. If they fail to save the crops everyone could starve the next year.

In The Storm we learn who Cass is and how hard of a worker she is and how hard she works to take care of all the other girls. Cass is like a little care giver or kind of like a parent to the other girls. She is always putting herself at risk for the other girls.

The Storm gives us a sneak peek into the world of Flow with a enough world building to keep us hanging on for more and wanting to know more about all the characters and their world and what life  inside the Beck is really like.

Transfer: Flow short
by Clare Littlemore
Genre: YA, Dystopian, Fiction

This short takes place in the middle of Flow and talks about the transfer of some to their new sector. Best to read after Flow.

My Review of Transfer: Flow short:

Transfer is told from Harper’s point of view and gives us insight into the day Harper was transferred into another section of The Beck. Harper missed her friends Quinn and Cass but realized that making new friends in her new home was not going to be too difficult. The Girls in this section all looked out for each other too.

Transfer gave me a look into a section of the Beck that I didn’t have when reading the other books in the Flow Series like Flow book one or Break book two or Drift book three or even Quell book four. I also got to know Harper better.

Transfer may be a short story but it draws you in from the first page and packs a big punch just as if it were a full length novel. You get to know some of the characters more and a little bit more about their world and their way of life.

If you like dystopian or young adult books then I believe you will fall in love with Transfer and the whole Flow Series.
